The Hike

  1. Start at the main staging area

Begin at Highway 67 and Poway Road. Follow signs for Iron Mountain; Ellie Lane has a separate starting point and a different route.

  2. Climb through the hills

The opening stretch is gentler. Farther up, switchbacks lead around the eastern side of the peak with views toward Ramona.

  3. Reach the summit and return

Expect steeper, rocky footing near the top. Retrace the same trail to the main staging area, leaving enough daylight for the descent.

Getting Here & Parking

Use the main Iron Mountain staging area at Highway 67 and Poway Road. The City warns that parking fills early on weekends. Follow current signs and leave access clear.
